Advance Digital Studio 4 - Spring 2003

Level Four Shared Project

All sections of courses within Level Four will share a project for the final four weeks of this semester, giving students a unique opportunity to concentrate effort into one work that unifies disciplines within the major.

The project will continue content developed in the GD4 section, but will craft that content into a screen-based interactive communication. Students should explore beyond menu-based website structure to find navigation suitable for their project. Students should also look beyond a purely digital perspective, integrating analog sources of type and image into a final piece that communicates through a combination of experimentation and nuance.

On April 7th, you are to present your work from GD4 to your sections of Type 4 and DS4. This must include a bound presentation book, which includes the resolution of any visual explorations and writing, including a project brief, conceptual statements and/or creative writing. you will be presenting this progress to the entire class, so please consider whether you will need additional visuals presented via wall or screen (the labs will not necessarily be available; make arrangements with the media center as necessary).

A rough of the above book is due for the next class meeting of GD4.

A mid-project shared group critique will happen early in the week of April 21st. The final critique will also be a group critique.

(i'll restate my desire to have these projects done in GoLive, so they can be entered in the Adobe contest. i'd rather that they be smart and well-designed than full of Flash animation... but i understand that the production may be dictated by the individual project's direction.)

ADS4 Deadlines

Monday, April 7
First drafts, sketches, mock-ups and ideas for implementation of the shared project.
This is in addition to the other elements of your presentation as noted by Jim.
